BATTLE AT THE BEACH

Landon Rust and company invited Beach Butlerz out to have a little fun in the sun at Pismo Beach yesterday. It was a big turn out and a great time. The highlight of the day was a volleyball tournament. We won't say who won and who lost because the smiles are all that matter, but it was intense!

In the picture attached are some participants along with one of our owners from Beach Butlerz. From left to right: Jamie Crocker, Michael Demartini (owner), Ben Calkin, Erica Reynolds, and Sara Fuline.

Cozy up next to a fire on the beach tonight.

Even sub-zero tempuratures and tornado type winds aren't stopping people from enjoying what the central coast of California has to offer. I'm kidding... It's not freezing and there aren't any tornados! It's just another awesome day here in Avila Beach. The winds, surprisingly, are calming down and the sun is still shining bright. The evening is looking like it will be pretty nice. The sun is starting to set and people are still showing up.

We're currently preparing for a bonfire tonight at Port San Luis. We'd love to set one up for you as well. Everything is 10% off today in honor of our beautiful, caring, and wonderful mothers. We offer a few package deals:

  • $85 Sunset Beach Bonfire- 2 chairs, 2 blankets, table, and enough wood for three hours of heat.
  • $110 Romantic Beach Bonfire- 2 chairs, 2 blankets, *2 cupcakes from AMY BAKES CUPCAKES*, special glass bottle ship with romantic message written on parchment, and much more.
  • $38 Beach Bonfire- We set it up, light it, and you enjoy!

Additional items can be added to any package.

Creating and keeping new friendships.

Well, in the last two weeks I have done quite a bit of traveling. My co-workers are probably sick of me asking them to cover shifts, but because they're awesome they always say yes. It's been nice, but hectic at the same time. I have met a lot of new friends from all over the United States and even a few from around the globe. I'm never weary about meeting new people. I enjoy it. The excitement of introducing myself for the first time and getting to know the basic details about a person has always been fun to me. In the past, the challenging part has been keeping in touch. That problem has now been fixed, though.

Facebook has been an awesome tool in helping me stay connected with these people and continue to grow our new friendships. Even though I might not see these people for quite some time, some people maybe never again, I'm thankful that I can keep in touch with them through this amazing social media platform. Facebook has been an essential form of communication for several of my long distance friendships and family relationships. I have a best friend living in Denmark and three brothers along with aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Croatia and throughout Europe. Facebook has helped keep my international phone bill to a minimum.

One neat thing that I utilized the other day was the ability to spread the word about my job through Facebook's "Pages". I invited almost all of my friends, old and new, to "like" our company page for Beach Butlerz. Surprisingly, it was a lot of my NEW friends who actually "liked" it. I'm wondering if it's because they are such new friends that they haven't spent enough time around me in order to get sick of hearing me talk about my awesome job? Whatever the case may be, Beach Butlerz gained some new exposure and made some new friends from all over the world. I'm sure the excitement of seeing the "likes" grow is comparable in some way to shaking hands for the first time.

I hope Facebook can help keep us all together. I hope that we all continue creating and growing new friendships. And I hope that we continue to communicate and share new and fun things over this crazy thing called the internet! I hope we see each other businesses grow and succeed as well as watching our individual endeavors bloom.

Happy seis de Mayo! :)

Cinco de Mayo

I hope everyone has an awesome day and finds time to celebrate a little bit. Just a reminder... both Chilli Peppers locations in SLO are 50% off today and tomorrow!

P.S. The beach would be a great idea today :)

Birthday and BBQ... synonymous? I think so.

Today might not have been our most productive day as far as renting equipment, but we excelled in a couple of other areas. One of the many really cool things about Avila Beach is the amount of BBQ pits available for public use. From sunrise to sunset, it seems like there are always people grilling something up. Fortunately, my mom blessed with me charm and raised me to be a gentlemen so therefore when someone offers to let me sample their amazing BBQ'd food... there is no chance of me turning them down.

Just behind our Beach Butlerz kiosk that is set up on the corner of San Juan St/Front St in Avila is a playgroud, a basketball court, and a small grassy area. The grassy area is home to several of the BBQ pits I previously mentioned. Today one of those BBQ pits was claimed by an amazing Filipino family who BBQ'd amazing Filipino food while they celebrated one of the family members birthdays. After a bit of small talk about our business and what we offer (amazing beach loungers and umbrellas) our boss Michael had found his way over to the table and before he could say yes or no he had a full plate. Soon after, Meredith and I were in the same boat. We had our choice of home style pork, chicken, fruit, and several other dishes. I think I tried just about every item available AND I got Hi-C juice box! A HI-C JUICEBOX! When is the last time you had one of those?

Thanks to Jules who supplied us with a Beach Butler picture, his family and friends who filled our stomachs, and Happy Birthday to his nephew Jason!  It was awesome. I'm starting to feel kind of hungry again and I remember seeing cake on the table... I wonder what that tastes like? :)

One reason I love my job.

At the moment, I am sitting on the sofa going through my daily routine of checking emails, facebook, and headlines on various other websites. Meanwhile, my co-workers are constantly updating me via blog posts and facebook updates on how BEAUTIFUL it is at Avila Beach today. I relate this to waking up in the morning and looking at the window to help you decide if you'll need to wear pants or shorts that day. When I see that all these posts and updates it helps me decide whether or not I'll be wearing my shirt at work this afternoon. Right now, I'm leaning towards shirtless. Grab your boardshorts and bikini's and come challenge me to a game of bocce ball... butler style!

3...2...1... LAUNCH!

The official Beach Butlerz launch party is less than 24 hours away. We've been blogging about it all week. We've been telling all of our friends and family to come out and enjoy the fun. We've been telling everyone all along how amazing this new company really is. Tomorrow is the day to find out for yourself.

Rain, rain, stay away!

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day after yet another stormy Friday night here on the central coast. All of the winter rain has painted our landscapes gorgeous shades of green. This is the absolute best the central coast has looked in a long, long time. And with nice weather on tap for the next week or so I am excited to have a couple days off to be able to go sit in the sand.

Getting connected

The first baby steps of Beach Butlerz training are in the books and our journey can now begin. Friendships between the butlers are blooming quickly this spring, but no credit should be given to the rain. We are all looking forward to the warmer weather this summer. This weekend was filled with training and becoming familiar with one another. So far, so good.

I live in California for a reason!

I'm not in tune with much of the environmental discussions happening this year regarding the mass amounts of rain that California has been experiencing. When I say mass amounts, I mean mass amounts for California. I'm sure that people buried in snow or floating in floods would probably like to take the back of their hand and give me a nice little wake up call, but sorry, I'm a California kid! Growing up with 345 days of sunshine every year would spoil anyone.
